Our Team
Therapeutic Journeys is an independent practice with Community Interest status served by 6 committed child and adult counsellors and therapists. We offer therapeutic support to children, adolescents, teenagers, adults of all ages, people with special needs and families.
In addition to our regular work we deliver low fee trainings and therapy to front-line care, teaching, health and emergency professionals, both in the UK and in Latin America.
We invite donations to support our pro bono work.
Therapeutic Journeys prides itself in having a team that is highly motivated, supportive of each other and appreciative of each other’s backgrounds and models of work. This means that we are able to offer key therapeutic approaches and put our resources together to serve the best interest of the individuals and families who contact us.
Gloria is supported by a team of experienced counsellors/psychotherapists who have been working with her for over five years. Between them the service offers the following languages:
English, Dari, Farsi, French, Italian, Persian, Polish and Spanish.

Gloria Howard is the Founding Director of Therapeutic Journeys. She is a Psychodynamic and Person-Centred Counsellor; Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Supervisor; EMDR Therapist and Supervisor; EMDR R-TEP and G-TEP approved trainer.
Post-graduate qualification in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Graduate Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, Post-graduate Diploma for Counselling Children and Young People, Certificate in CBT techniques, Accreditation with EMDR Association UK for working with children and adults, Diploma for Supporting Parents of Teenagers, EMDR Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (EMDR R-TEP) and Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) approved trainer.
Gloria has over twenty-five years' experience working as a therapist with children, adolescents, teenage mothers, families, and individuals with special needs across various ages. She has over 50 years’ experience working with children and young people in the helping professions.
In London I run a Schools Counselling Service. For over 17 years she was the clinical manager for a Local Authority Counselling and Information Centre and for 19 years she was the Counselling lead in a Special Needs School, both in London. In Wales Gloria manages a Centre for residential trainings and as a summer school for music and creative activities.

Counsellor and EMDR Therapist
Qualifications:
Post-graduate qualification in Counselling Studies, Diploma in Counselling Studies, EMDR Practitioner, Certificate in Remote Therapeutic working.
History:
Andrew qualified as a counsellor in 2013 after 30 years in the Fire Service. At present he co-runs an In-House Counselling Service for a busy GP surgery in Cheshire, has a small private practice and is a sessional counsellor for a local charity. He has gained many years clinical experience of working with Adults in the NHS and looked after children at Barnardo’s and primary school children with Place2be.

SHEILA MORAN, ACMA, CGMA
FINANCE DIRECTOR

CIMA Qualified Management Accountant.
Sheila has over 30 years' experience working in finance in a range of posts and sectors. She is currently the Finance Controller for the Whitefields Trust, managing the finances for two special needs schools in East London. Sheila has held previous posts in education, both in the public and private sector, and has worked in the charity sector with Mind and Charterhouse in Southwark. In her early career she worked in the City with Cookson Mathey, a major US corporation, and Springpoint, a leading UK based brand design company.
Sheila sits on the Parish Council of her local church and manages its finances on a voluntary basis. She is also active in their fundraising activities and in supporting efforts to improve the lives of children in a village in Nigeria.

ANTHONY LOFTUS

Anthony studied Business Studies at HND level in Exeter.
He worked at Unilever for 30 years and then, after several years as an independent marketing Consultant, he joined HM Prison Service and worked in Wormwood Scrubs Prison for 10 years on rehabilitation projects for some of the most difficult prisoners with a team of psychologists and psychiatrists, and since then on a number of Restorative Justice projects.
Anthony has experience of working with mental health, as his son has trauma based learning difficulties that have required psychological interventions over a number of years.
ANITA HOWARD

Architect
Anita is a trained and practising Architect. She has experience of managing large teams and running complex projects, and is particularly interested in building functional working relationships and fostering positive collaboration to achieve results. She has mentored young people since 2008, and has received training in Mental Health First Aid.
Anita is a firm believer in the vision of the company, to provide effective and affordable support to those who need it.
Together with Gloria, Anita is a Director of Paradise Farmhouse Ltd, where we host our residential intensive interventions.
